Getting started
Make it your default browser: Android Settings → Apps → Default apps → Browser app → Cat Browser.
Import bookmarks: export them from your old browser as an HTML file, then import it in Cat Browser settings.
Ad blocking (Shields)
Shields blocks ads and trackers using filter lists that update automatically. If a site breaks, tap the Shields icon in the address bar and turn Shields off for that site.
Cat AI
- “Unavailable”: check your connection and try again in a minute.
- Free use has a message allowance, shown in the chat. Cat Premium raises it.
- AI answers can be wrong. Do not rely on them for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions.
- Your chat history is stored on your phone; clearing the app’s data deletes it.
Cat VPN
- Tap Connect and accept Android’s VPN request. The free plan has a daily time and data allowance that resets at 00:00 UTC. When it runs out, the VPN disconnects and tells you.
- If it says “Connected” but pages don’t load, disconnect and connect again. Only one VPN app can be active at a time.
Downloading videos
Tap the download button on a page with a video. Some sites cannot be downloaded (DRM, private videos, live streams). Download only content you have the right to save (see the Terms).
Cat Search
Cat Search fetches results from several providers on your behalf. Queries are not stored with any identifier. With Safe Mode on, adult results are hidden.
Safe Mode
See the parents’ guide.
Cat Premium and purchases
- Google Play handles payments. To manage or cancel: Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
- New phone or reinstall: sign in with the same Google Play account and Premium is restored.
- Refunds follow Google Play’s policies.
Privacy and deleting data
See the Privacy Policy. To delete data on our servers, use the deletion request page. Clearing the app’s data (Android Settings → Apps → Cat Browser → Storage → Clear data) removes what is on your phone and creates a new install identity.
Connection security
A lock in the address bar means the connection to the site is encrypted (HTTPS) and the site’s certificate is valid. It does not mean the site is trustworthy. “Not secure” means data you send could be read or changed by others on the network. Avoid entering passwords or payment details there.
Contact
Questions or feedback: [email protected], or use “Rate Cat Browser” in the app menu. Check the service status if a feature stops working.
